(AP) — Honolulu’s water utility is asking 400,000 Oʻahu residents to voluntarily cut their water use by 10%. The utility is taking the step because of concerns about dry weather and a petroleum leak from a massive Navy fuel storage facility that has forced it to shut down three wells. This means the utility doesn’t have its normal water supply. The conservation request affects residents and businesses in urban Honolulu. The Defense Department says it will permanently shut down the Red Hill Bulk Fuel Storage Facility and remove all of its fuel.
