The Hawai‘i County Police Department is asking the public to provide any helpful information regarding a school burglary that took place in upper Puna on Monday, October 18.
Puna Patrol officers responded to a report of a burglary at a school in the Volcano area. Staff reported that a break-in that left a number electronic items missing occurred sometime between 7:00 p.m., Sunday October 17, 2021, and 5:00 a.m. Monday, October 18, 2021.
During the course of investigation, officers determined that suspect(s) pried open a classroom door, taking 11 laptops and two video projectors valued at over $4,300. The suspect(s) also attempted to pry open a storage trailer but were unsuccessful.
Investigators say it appears that the suspect(s) knew the layout of the premises.
