Hawai‘i Island police detectives have arrested and charged 37-year-old Pieter Colson of Kamuela with terroristic threatening, harassment, and various felony offenses.

The charges stem from an incident that occurred on Monday, July 19, 2021, in a residential subdivision off Kohala Mountain Road in Kamuela in which a 58-year-old female victim reported that Colson verbally threatened her and drove off in a blue Jeep. Shortly thereafter, an 18-year-old female victim reported that while driving, she was followed and harassed by Colson who was operating the same blue Jeep.

North Kohala patrol officers later located Colson and the blue Jeep at Kawaihae Harbor. When attempting to arrest Colson for the reported terroristic threatening and harassment offenses, he resisted arrest, assaulted the responding officers, and fled on foot. A group of good Samaritans assisted the officers, but Colson was able to flee the area.

On Tuesday, July 20, South Kohala patrol officers located and apprehended Colson without incident on Kohala Mountain Road in Kamuela.

On Wednesday, July 21, after conferring with the Prosecutor’s Office, police charged Colson with one count of terroristic threatening in the second-degree, one count of harassment by stalking, one count of resisting arrest, two counts of assaulting a police officer in the first-degree, and one count of assault of a police officer in the second-degree. His total bail was set at $6,500.
