(AP) — A wrongful death lawsuit has been filed less than a week after Honolulu police shot and killed an unarmed Black man. Police say Lindani Myeni walked into a home, sat down and took off his shoes, which prompted frightened occupants to call 911. The lawsuit says responding officers were motivated by racial discrimination and failed to identify themselves as police before shooting. Department officials have said it wasn’t about race and that officers were fighting for their lives. Representatives for the department and the city didn’t immediately comment on the lawsuit.
