Hawaiʻi County police have located a 30-year-old Ocean View woman who was wanted for several outstanding warrants, as well as questioning in connection with an ongoing criminal investigation.
Members of the Area II Special Enforcement Unit located Maria Girangaya at a residence on Plumeria Road in the Kailua-Kona area. Girangaya was arrested for outstanding warrants at the Kealakehe Police Station as detectives from the Area II Criminal Investigation Section continued pursuing several ongoing investigations in which Girangaya was a suspect.
After conferring with prosecutors, Girangaya was charged with two counts of criminal contempt of court. She was also charged with a single count of unauthorized control of a propelled vehicle stemming from the removal of a sport utility vehicle from South Point on April 1, 2021. The vehicle was recovered from a property in the Hawaiian Ocean View Estates on April 20, after tips from the public were received regarding the vehicle’s location.
Girangaya’s bail was set at $3,300. She is scheduled to make her initial court appearance on Wednesday April 21, in Kona District Court.
