(AP) — Educators and childcare workers across Hawaiʻi have become eligible and started receiving coronavirus vaccinations. Honolulu Star-Advertiser reports that their status as frontline, essential workers allows educators to begin receiving vaccine shots under Tier 1-B of the state’s distribution plan. Hawaiʻi education department Deputy Superintendent Phyllis Unebasami says 18,200 education workers filled out online forms saying they want to be vaccinated. The names have been submitted to the Hawaiʻi Department of Health, which is sharing the list with medical providers. The education department included all school personnel in its priority list rather than favoring any specific job category.
