Today, the State Department of Health confirmed 130 new cases of COVID-19 in the state, bringing the total number to 19,859.
The Big Island has 7 new cases, bringing the island’s total to 1,769. The island has had 50 deaths from COVID-19 out of the state’s 281 total deaths attributed to COVID-19.
The report comes on the same day that the FDA has issued an Emergency Use Authorization (EUA) for the second COVID-19 vaccine, made by Moderna. One week ago, the FDA issued an EUA for the COVID-19 made by Pfizer/BioNTech. The State is receiving both vaccines, with the State Department of Health responsible for distributing the vaccine to hospitals and medical clinics.
