COVID-19 testing is on the schedule today at three locations. The testing is sponsored by Hawaii County and is free, according to press releases provided by the County.
Testing details are on the Hawaii County Civil Defense web site,
•Afook Chinen Auditorium in Hilo, 8 a.m. until noon. (provider: Premier Medical)
•West Hawaii Civic Center, 9 a.m. until 1 p.m. (provider: Premier Medical)
• Kea’au High School, 1 p.m. until 5 p.m. (provider: Premier Medical)
Testing is drive-through. Plan to stay in your car, and wear a face mask when talking with anybody outside your vehicle. It’s helpful to bring your own pen to fill out the form, and easier if you bring a clipboard or hard surface on which to write.
Please bring your insurance card (if you have insurance) as well as a photo I.D.
Hawaii County officials have said that the cost of testing is being covered via Federal CARES Funding. That funding has to be used by the end of the year, and it’s not clear whether the numerous tests currently being scheduled by the County will continue.
For more information about testing, check the testing schedule on the Hawaii County Civil Defense web site, or call 808-935-3311.
