Hawaii County is sponsoring free COVID-19 testing today:
—West Hawaii Civic Center in Kona, in the parking lot, from 9 a.m. until 1 p.m.
—Hilo at Afook Chinen Civic Auditorium, from 9 a.m. until 1 p.m.
The testing is all drive-through. Please bring your insurance card if you have it, but no insurance is needed and the County says it will cover any co-pays or fees. Wear a mask.
There may be a wait, so bring a book or your cell phone to keep yourself occupied while waiting.
The County says no symptoms nor reasons are needed to get tested. The County has had numerous people with no symptoms show positive tests. And according to the CDC, more than 50% of the cases nationwide are being spread by asymptomatic people–those who have COVID-19 but the symptoms are very mild or who have no symptoms at all.
