The State Department of Health has confirmed 156 new COVID-19 cases, bringing the state’s total t0 15,473 with approximately 3,296 active cases. October 9 was the last time there were more than 100 new cases–155 on that day.
The state is reporting 219 deaths. A total of 1,125 people have required hospitalization statewide; on Hawaii Island, 65 people have required hospitalization.
Today’s new COVID-19 cases in Hawaii include 125 on Oahu, 4 on Maui, 1 on Lanai, and 5 Hawaii residents diagnosed outside of the state. Kaua’i and Moloka’i added no new cases.
The Big Island has 21new cases of COVID-19. The island’s total is 1,332, with approximately 339 active cases (total number minus those released from isolation minus those who have passed away).
The State is reporting the island has 31 deaths from COVID, but it’s known there is a lag between the island’s hospitals or care facilities reporting deaths and the State DOH confirming. The deaths reported by facilities on the island number 48.
