Kona Community Hospital has confirmed its first death from COVID-19. Judy Donovan, Marketing and Strategic Planning Director, said the death occurred Monday and was a patient who had come into the Emergency Room.
There is no other detail available at this time.
This brings the island’s death toll from COVID-19 to 35. Earlier today, Hilo Medical Center’s daily report included the deaths of 5 community members, 27 residents from Yukio Okutsu Veterans Home, and 2 people who were at Life Care Center of Hilo.
The State Department of Health so far is only formally reporting 15 of the island’s deaths.
