Free COVID-19 testing will be provided at several sites through Saturday. Hawaii County has the second highest number of COVID-19 cases in the state, and with recent spikes in Kona and Hilo, Mayor Kim is urging those who might have been exposed to take advantage of free testing going on throughout the county.
Note that the County had initially scheduled testing for Honoka’a for today and Waimea for this Thursday, but that testing is cancelled. Today’s testing is now on campus at University of the Nations, which is known to have 22 cases of COVID on campus and 8 off campus. The University says it does not believe any of its 300 new students who arrived recently are responsible for bringing the virus.
These drive-through testings will take place on the following schedule:
- Wednesday, October 7, Keauhou Shopping Center, 9:00am-Noon
- Wednesday, October 7, Civic Auditorium, Hilo, 3:00pm-6:00pm. Please enter from Kuawa Street entrance.
- Friday, October 9, Keauhou Shopping Center, 9:00am-Noon
- Saturday, October 10, West Hawaii Community Center at 74-5044 Ane Keohokālole Highway in Kona, 9:00am-1:00pm.
No insurance is necessary to be tested, but please bring your insurance card if you have one. No co-pay for individuals being tested.
Please be sure to wear a face covering at all times, and observe social distancing.
