The state has added 168 new COVID-19 cases, bringing the state’s total count to 11,689. The number of active cases is around 6,442.
In good news, Lt. Gov. Josh Green says the number of people with COVID-19 in our hospitals is at its lowest level in two weeks.
The state is reporting 122 deaths, but that does not include all Hawaii County deaths. Hawaii County’s deaths on the state report number 15, but with one additional death today reported by the Yukio Okutsu Veterans Home, the County’s actual death toll from COVID-19 is 28. All but two are associated with the Veterans Home. The Veterans Home residents generally have underlying medical conditions which have made it more difficult for their bodies to fight off the virus.
There are no new cases, again, on Kaua’i. Maui County has one new case. O’ahu has 154 new cases.
The Big Island has 13 new cases, bringing the island’s total to 672, with around 170 active.
