The State has confirmed 160 new cases of COVID-19, bringing the total count to 11,105. The state is now reporting 107 deaths from COVID. There are approximately 6,750 active cases.
Hawaii County has added 20 new cases of COVID-19, for a total of 623, and 186 active cases. Although the official state report, below, shows only 3 deaths from COVID-19. This morning Hawaii County Civil Defense reported that the actual number of deaths, sadly, is 17. The report also said 22 people on the island are hospitalized with COVID-19, up from 20 yesterday afternoon.
Kaua’i has added no new cases. Maui County has added 3. O’ahu has added 136.
Gov. David Ige announced on Wednesday that the state will begin its pre-travel testing program that will allow travelers coming in from out of state to avoid the 14-day quarantine if they have a negative COVID-19 test within 72 hours of arriving in the state. The interisland travel quarantine to neighbor islands is still in place, though Gov. Ige said he is working with the mayors to possibly implement an interisland pre-travel test, but nothing is in place yet.
