The National Weather Service has posted a Red Flag Warning for the state’s leeward areas because of gusty winds and low humidity. That includes the West side of the Big Island from South Kona up through Kohala.
The NWS says dry conditions in parts of the island, plus forecasted breezy trades and relative humidity which may get below 45% this afternoon means fire is a danger. Outdoor burning is not recommended, and any fires could spread rapidly.
The Red Flag Warning is in effect until 6 p.m.
