Although the state had 355 new COVID-19 cases today, an all-time record, Gov. David Ige said today he has not changed his mind, yet, about restarting travel from out of state with no quarantine as long as incoming travelers have a negative COVID-19 test within 72 hours of boarding their plane.
However, he said he is still considering pushing it back and said he wants to monitor the case counts for the next few days before making a decision.
He said he and the neighbor island Mayors–Derek Kawakami on Kaua’i, Mike Victorino on Maui, and Harry Kim on Hawaii Island — are comfortable with no additional restrictions on the neighbor islands at this time. Anybody coming to any of the neighbor islands is subject to a 14-day mandatory self-quarantine, unless given an exemption by the specific County.
