Milwaukee Bucks’ Giannis Antetokounmpo was suspended one game by the NBA for headbutting Washington Wizards forward Moe Wagner in the face Tuesday night. The reigning league MVP will not play Thursday when the Bucks face the Memphis Grizzlies.
Antetokounmpo was ejected early in the second quarter Tuesday. Wagner knocked Antetokounmpo over for a rebound; the pair briefly exchanged words before the Bucks star headbutted Wagner in the side of the face. After the game, Antetokounmpo appeared apologetic and said he didn’t have anything against Wagner. He said he let his frustration boil over and “just lost it for a second. If I could go back and turn back time and go back to that play I wouldn’t do it. But at the end of the day, we’re all human, we all make mistakes.”
The Bucks will open the playoffs next week against the Orlando Magic.
