Hawaii today has added 64 new cases of COVID-19 to its cumulative count of 1,683, with 1,179 people released from isolation and monitoring.  None of the new cases is on the Big Island, which has 117 cumulative cases and 7 active.

O’ahu added 55 cases, and now has 1,345 cases with 903 released from isolation and monitoring, or 442 active cases.  One case was removed from O’ahu’s total case count, according to State Department of Health, because of updated information.  In a Saturday news release, State Epidemiologist Dr. Sarah Park said multiple coronavirus clusters have been associated with Fourth of July gatherings, birthday parties, religious functions, work meetings, sports events and funerals.

Previously, Dr. Bruce Anderson, head of State Department of Health, said one Big Island case was related to travel to O’ahu.

Maui added 7 cases since Saturday, with 153 cumulative cases and 124 released from isolation, or 29 active cases.  Mayor Mike Victorino has asked Gov. David Ige to re-impose the 14-day interisland travel quarantine.

Kaua’i has added 2 to its case count, bringing it to 45.

The state has lost 26 people to COVID-19, but no new deaths were reported today.

The state has had a concerning number of double-digit increases in previous days, with yesterday bringing 73 new cases, the state’s highest total yet.  Today’s is the second highest reported total.
