Hawaiian Airlines is resuming flights between Hawaii and most mainland gateway cities starting August 1. The airline said it will also increase interisland flights.
Hawaiian suspended most flights at the end of March as cases of COVID-19 grew and the state put the mandatory 14-day quarantine for out-of-state travelers in effect. It kept once-daily service between Honolulu and Los Angeles, Seattle, and San Francisco, but direct flights to neighbor islands stopped.
Starting August 1, Hawaiian says it will reinstate service between Honolulu and Boston, New York, Las Vegas, Phoenix, San Jose, and Oakland. It will also resume service between Kahalui, Maui and Los Angeles, Oakland, San Francisco, San Jose, and Sacramento; Lihue, Kaua’i and Los Angeles and Oakland. Service will also resume between Kona and Los Angeles. Starting August 6, Hawaiian says it plans to resume once-weekly service between Honolulu and American Samoa.
Starting in May, Hawaiian Airlines started requiring passengers to wear masks for the durations of flights unless medically unable to do so, and implemented enhanced cleaning procedures. Those enhanced procedures will remain in place.
