The Hawaii Island Food Basket will distribute food today at Kamehameha Park in Kapa’au, starting at 10 a.m. Anybody who needs the food is invited.
Other food distribution sites this week include Cooper Center in Volcano on Wednesday (starting 10 a.m.), at Ho’okena Elementary School on Thursday (starting 10 a.m.), Friday at Papa’aloa Community Center (starting 10 a.m.), and Friday at Honoka’a Sports Complex (starting 1 p.m.)
Food Basket Executive Director Kristin Frost Albrecht asks those coming to have space in their trunk or back seat for the food. National Guard troops and other volunteers will put the food into the vehicles. The food drop will go for two hours or until the food supply is depleted. She says the Food Basket will continue to do the food drops until they’re no longer needed.
