The case count is consistent with the two-week average, and the death count is below the average. Experts are noting that the cases in the U.S. are at a plateau, even though in some states –Florida, Texas, and Arizona have been cited — the cases are markedly increasing.
Hawaii has had an increase of 73 cases since June 9, almost all on O’ahu, but Lt. Gov. Dr. Josh Green says the state’s hospital capacity is well within the needs that could be created by a surge. There is one active case on the Big Island, announced on Sunday. Hawaii County Civil Defense says the case is “very isolated” and connected to a previous travel-related case. According to the map published by State Department of Health, the latest case is in the Puna District. The state’s total cumulative case count is 728, with 629 released from isolation.
