Hawaii State Department of Health Director Dr. Bruce Anderson said on Thursday that 2 of today’s 3 new cases on Hawaii Island are family members of another COVID-19 victim.
He did not reveal where the island’s six active COVID-19 cases are and said only that recent cases have been in Hilo, South Kona, and other places on the Big Island.
However, the State Department of Health does provide a map which indicates where new cases have been within the last 28 days. Kailua-Kona–mostly the North Kona District– is orange on Thurs. May 21, indicating it has 6 to 10 cases new in the past 28 days, whereas on Wednesday the Kailua-Kona area was yellow, indicating 1 to 5 cases.
On Thursday evening, Hawaii News Now said 2 of the newest cases are in a family in Hilo who caught it from another family member.
