Costco has updated its hours and shopping policies, to ensure both employees and shoppers are safe. These changes are effective Monday, May 4, 2020.
U.S. Costco warehouses — including the Kona Costco — will allow no more than two people to enter the warehouse with each membership card.
Hours of Operation
Effective Monday, May 4, the Kona Costco and most Costco stores nationwide will return to regular hours:
M-F 10:00 a.m – 8:30 p.m
Sat. 9:30 a.m. – 6:00 p.m.
Sun 10:00 a.m. – 6:00 p.m.
Kupuna hours:
Effective Monday, May 4, Costco warehouses will open from 9 a.m. to 10 a.m., Monday through Friday for members ages 60 and older, and people with disabilities. Only members who meet this criteria will be able to shop during these hours. Guests will not be admitted. The pharmacy will be open, but the Costco Food Court will be closed during these hours.
Healthcare workers and first responders priority access:
Costco is temporarily allowing priority access to our warehouses during all open hours for Costco members who are healthcare workers and first responders such as police officers, EMTs and firefighters. Healthcare workers (which includes pharmacists and all hospital employees with a hospital ID) and first responders who present a Costco membership card and official identification of their role, will be allowed to move to the front of any line to enter the warehouse. Only members who meet this criteria will be allowed priority access.
Gas station hours:
The Kona Costco gas station will resume normal hours effective Monday, May 4:
M-F 4:30 a.m. – 9:30 p.m.
Sat. 4:30 a.m. – 8:00 p.m.
Sun 4:30 a.m – 7:30 p.m.
Face Covering Requirements
To protect our members and employees, effective May 4, all Costco members and guests must wear a face covering that covers their mouth and nose at all times while at Costco. This requirement does not apply to children under the age of 2 or to individuals who are unable to wear a face covering due to a medical condition.
The use of a face covering should not be seen as a substitute for social distancing–staying 6 feet away from others.
Product Limitations
Costco has implemented limits on certain items to help ensure more members are able to purchase merchandise they want and need, and says their buyers and suppliers are working hard to provide essential, high demand merchandise as well as everyday favorites.
Fresh meat purchases are temporarily limited to a total of 3 items per member among the beef, pork and poultry products.
Reusable Shopping Bags
Costco is allowing members to use their own reusable shopping bags as long as they pack the bags themselves.
Return Restrictions
Costco is not accepting returns on specific items, including:
-Toilet paper
-Bottled water
-Sanitizing wipes
-Paper towels
-Rice
-Disinfecting spray
Temporary Department Changes
To help limit personal contact and create more space for social distancing, Costco has reduced service in some departments. Both the Hearing Aid Department and the Optical Departments are open for limited services, such as repairs, at the Kona Costco. For those departments, call Costco at 808-331-4800.
Jewelry is available for purchase, but not for trying on, in order to prevent the spread of COVID-19. Costco members may continue to shop for some of these items at Costco.com.
Costco Food Courts
A limited menu is available at Costco Food Courts. Orders are only available for takeout — seating is not available. Please ask Costco Food Court employees for available condiments.
Social Distancing
Costco is following CDC recommendations to minimize risk to our members and our employees. We respectfully ask our members to use social distancing guidelines while shopping in our warehouses by allowing at least 6 feet of space between each person.
