The office of Hawaii County Mayor Harry Kim sent out a release saying that the Kealakehe Greenwaste services are closed until further notice. The release attributes the closure to “manpower issues associated with the COVID-19 situation.”
For those who wish to drive to the Waikoloa Resort Area, the release states that greenwaste services are available at the West Hawaiʻi Organics Facility, located at the West Hawaiʻi Sanitary Landfill in Pu’uanahulu, Mondays through Saturdays from 7:00 a.m. to 4:15 p.m. Other greenwaste facilities around the island appear to be open, according to press releases from the Mayor’s office.
The telephone lines at the County Department of Environmental Management say the department is closed, pursuant to the Governor’s “stay at home” order, through April 30. The message says they ask callers not to leave messages.
